Payment Policies

ABOUT THE CHARGES

Most day surgery procedures are covered by insurance.  Once insurance coverage has been verified, patients are expected to pay any remaining deductible before or on the day of surgery.

As a courtesy to you, we will bill your insurance company for their portion of the cost of your care.  You will be billed only for your co-pay portion provided your insurance company makes timely payment.  Some insurance companies make payment directly to the patient, in which case we request your timely payment to us.

Advance payment is customary for procedures not covered by insurance, or for patients without insurance.  For your convenience, we accept most major credit cards.

ADDITIONAL CHARGES

The Surgery Center of Farmington must contract with other healthcare providers for certain aspects of your care.  In addition to the charges from your physician and the surgery center, you may receive statements from the following contracted providers:

Anesthesia Services:
If you were given a general anesthetic, block, or had sedation with anesthesia personnel in attendance, you will be receiving a bill for their professional services.

Laboratory:
If your physician requested blood work, you will receive a statement from the providing facility.

X-ray Studies:
If you have x-rays taken for your procedure, you will receive a statement from the facility in which you had the x-ray.  If it was done at the hospital, you may also receive a charge from the radiologist who interprets the film.

Pathology:
If your doctor sends tissue away for analysis, you will receive two additional bills - one from the hospital that prepares the slides and one from the doctor who reads them.  The hospital fee is called the technical component and the doctor's charge is called the professional component.
